Apple Unveils Overhauled Siri AI in iOS 27 Public Beta

Apple has released the iOS 27 public beta, making its revamped Siri AI available to everyday users. This marks a major overhaul of the voice assistant, which is now more capable and integrated across the operating system.

With the release of the public beta, Apple is giving users a chance to try out the new AI-powered Siri ahead of its broader launch later this fall. The update turns Siri into a more powerful tool that can access information on a user’s device, including emails, photos, and messages.

One of the key features of the updated Siri is its ability to respond to what’s on the screen and ground its answers in world knowledge, similar to modern-day AI chatbots. It’s also been given its own standalone app, which users can access by saying ‘Hey Siri’ or pressing the side button.

The new Siri AI is available across all Apple products, including iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, CarPlay, AirPods, Apple TV, and Vision Pro. Under the hood, it leverages Apple Intelligence, including Apple’s new Foundation Models that run on the device and use its Private Cloud Compute.

In early tests of the developer version of Siri AI, the assistant was able to better handle basic tasks on the phone, such as finding certain photos in your Photo Library or summarizing group texts. It also performed well at responding to questions you would normally have to search the web to answer.

However, the developer beta did experience some errors and confusion, with Siri sometimes throwing error messages or getting confused. Nevertheless, it’s easy to see how Siri could become a bigger part of your everyday digital life, especially since it doesn’t require opening an app to use it.

As with any beta release, there may be some errors and bugs, but overall, it’s a significant upgrade to the voice assistant that will likely make it more useful and integrated into your daily life.
